Zoo Time!

Jack is loving preschool so far.  We have our routine down, we choose a can of food for the hungry kids, Jack poses for his picture (he insists we do this every day like its the first day of preschool).  Being a teacher I am so curious to know what Jack is like as a student.  I got a bit of feedback from a parent who was in the classroom, she said, "Wow! Jack is your son right?  He has such a big vocabulary, he speaks like an adult...'Mrs. Overland this Mrs. Overland that...'

Great News! Jack is totally potty trained...Hooray!  Our last little test for him was preschool, he had one accident the first day and from then on he has been perfect!  It is amazing to us that Jack even sleeps 12 hours a night and does not wet the bed- he must have Mommy's bladder!  We are now having napping issues and you can see from the picture above that "No Nap Jack" is not a fun thing.  Instead of sleeping, he just goes to the bathroom like 15 times....ARG!! Its great that he likes going on the potty and all but he is clearly doing this to get out of taking a nap.  I wouldn't mind him skipping naps except that he turns into the most terrible two when he doesn't get his mid-day rest!! Suggestions anyone?!?! I am hoping this is just a stage....

Our blue-eyed baby on his first trip to the zoo.  En route to the zoo, we passed by Greenlake which is a well-known lake in Seattle that Stephen and I used to run around.  We pointed "Greenlake" out to Jack, he took one glance and said, "No, that's White Lake" So true!  Our gray Seattle sky made the lake look white-ish.  Boy this kid keeps us on our toes!

Okay, I didn't mean to dress them so alike, really!!  Here they are enjoying the penguins.

Git along little Komodo Dragon!

Jack's absolute favorite part of the zoo was this tractor near the petting zoo.

This little tractor was all he talked about, even when we were up close with the jaguars, elephants, gorillas etc...

Aha....now we know why!

Aaron is now eating rice cereal, bananas and sweet potatoes and loving them.  This video shows his leg action- he is so impatient for food!!  Even after eating his food, he still watches us while we eat, following each spoonful to the mouth.  Aaron is not quite sleeping through the night, he doesn't need food, he is just needing his binky- I think its teething.  He is still urping up a bit and loves being tickled.  When he is upset he turns into a little Bambino, saying "ma-MA, ma-MA" with an Italian accent.  So cute, yet heartbreaking!

Ok now for the TMI section.  If you are not into potty humor, go ahead and avoid this next blurb.
As I am venting to my husband about how frustrated I am with Jack not napping anymore and using the potty as a loophole, Jack once again comes out of his room and peaks through the door (when he should have been napping).  As I approach he says, "Mommy...I pooped the letter J"  I look at him like he is just saying silly things, when what do I see in the potty?  That's right, his poop was in the shape of a letter J.  Ok- so I couldn't help but laugh and yes, I know its gross, I brought the evidence over for Stephen to see too.
Ok- so you wish this was the end of the story, but it isn't.
So I tell this to Mom and we have a good laugh and we also say, "That's right Jack is so smart, he poops the alphabet! What can YOUR kid do?"
So then, when we get home from Grandma's house, Jack goes on the potty again, then he exclaims, "Mom, I pooped the letter X!" Ok, clearly he is making this up to get attention now that he sees that it is  cracking mom, dad and g'ma up....no wait....he really did it- his poop was in the shape of the letter x.  You should thank me in advance for not posting pictures as evidence, but really- who can believe such a story?  I will keep you posted if he starts pooping cursive.
