Our little man is now sleeping in a big boy bed!
We want Jack to have some adjustment time before Aaron officially takes over the crib, our strategy is to keep the crib locked away in Aaron's room and not let Jack see it until he is absolutely secure in his new nest.
I loved Jack's first reaction to the bed, "oooh! Climb up! Climb up!" We had him get his stool from the bathroom, he climbed up into his new bed and immediately started jumping (of course). Why do kids naturally start jumping on the bed? Maybe we did the rhyme " Five little monkeys jumping on the bed" too many times :)
Anyway, he was so excited about his new bed, to our relief!
Then I had him put his normal sleeping stuff in the bed one by one: monkey/binkie/blankie are his most prized sleeping items.
Then we went through our normal sleep cue, but he immediately popped out of bed and said "I don't like it! I don't like it!" We did the sleep cue again, this time gradually turning out all the lights, we left the room then he cried for five minutes and went to sleep.
Now it seems he is sleeping even longer and better than the little crib days. He runs up the stairs for nap time and says, "new bed, new bed...I LUFF IT!"- we are lucky parents!!
