Welcome Aaron

Here is our big strapping boy, Aaron James Morrissey born May 2 at 7:28 am weighing in at 9lbs 5oz and 22 inches long.

He emerged from the womb immediately peeing and screaming! Quite an entrance!
As you know from past posts, I went in for a scheduled C-section with very few complications. In fact my healing process has been very easy, especially the incision which feels like a 1 or a 2 in terms of pain level (scale of 1-10). Strangely I had a terribly sharp pain in my shoulder which registered as a 9 on the pain scale- I could barely breathe and the docs rushed in and had to put me on oxygen and morphine because I was shrieking and crying hysterically. I guess this is common in surgery that an air bubble will travel up to the neck/shoulder area and feel like someone repeatedly stabbing you upon each inhalation. Yikes! It was recurring throughout my hospital stay and a few days after we arrived home, but the percosets really helped :)
This is Aaron's first bath. He is not shy about expressing himself, he has quite an alarming cry that escalates to "emergency!" volume and urgency rather quickly. He does not like baths or diaper changes, although at two weeks he is less annoyed and fussy. He consistently pees on his dad during diaper changes, this doesn't happen to mommy- hah...he already has a favorite :)

We were so grateful that Jack stayed with Grandma and Grandpa while we were in the hospital. It was really perfect since their house is all set up for him with a pack and play and toys and a big yard to run around.

Julia and Jen were so helpful, staying with me in the hospital so Stephen could run home and catch up on sleep.

Jack is taking on the big brother role pretty well so far. We hear "hi Aaron!" about 50 times a day and while I am breastfeeding, Jack giggles and says "Aaron's eating Mom's boob."
I created a present box for Jack and purchased a bunch of matchbox cars- so he gets a little present from Aaron and Jack says "Thanks Aaron!"
As I said before, Aaron has a pretty loud, urgent cry and Jack often says, "Aaron crying...Waaaaa!" Imitating (really authentically) Aaron's wail. Yep...that has been getting on my nerves lately!
